Yosemite Village
Vision Plan

Yosemite Village Vision Plan — From a congested and confusing village to a new vision for a welcoming National Park gateway. Red Bridge worked with the Park Service and Yosemite Conservancy to create a vision for a new and exceptional visitor experience in the Village.

Designed and built in the 1910’s as an elegant National Park visitor destination, today’s experience is chaotic with pedestrian and vehicle conflicts, underutilized structures and views obscured by overgrown vegetation.

To create a vision that balances competing objectives between park resources and visitor access, an inclusive teamwork environment was needed. Red Bridge Group collaborated with the park to establish a structure for the study that consisted of a Core Team, Strategic Teams, and an Extended Team. The Core Team managed the study and Strategic Teams focused on visitor use,  transportation and park programs. The Core and Strategic Teams were joined by subject matter experts to comprise the Extended Team that participated intermittently throughout the study.

The result is an exciting, consensus-driven plan that will elevate the visitor experience to new levels, creating a variety of ways for visitors to experience this amazing National Park. Red Bridge Group members CMG and Macchiatto provided landscape and retail design.
