Redwood Creek Restoration

Redwood Creek Restoration — From nonfunctional creek to robust watershed restoration. Redwood Creek was a thriving riparian ecosystem until ranching, agriculture and park development unknowingly altered its natural hydrological functions and habitats.

With new awareness, the area was restored to balance a meandering stream supporting endangered species with continued agricultural use. Visitor access was carefully planned so that park users can hike through or spend time in this special place.

Solving complex ecologic and access issues required an integrated team approach and a carefully selected consultant group. Since its reconstruction, nature has taken dramatic steps without the aid of additional restoration or park management. The creek is charting its own course and evolving in its own way, and park visitors get to see this marvel in action.
