Preserving Modern Architecture

From properties valued for their land and tear-down potential to sought after architectural gems.

New England is home to a unique collection of architect-designed midcentury modern residential buildings, many of which are undocumented and underappreciated. After the public opening of the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, CT, the opportunity was ripe to help elevate the understanding and value of these buildings before too many were lost to inappropriate development.

Public awareness and education were critical in changing perspectives.  A campaign focused on documentation, homeowner education, dialogue among leading experts and a PR campaign highlighting the uniqueness and contributions of mid-century Modern buildings helped build an audience and market beyond real estate developers.
